Speech Sound Disorders
A speech sound disorder is when your child either says sounds incorrectly, or omits sounds from words. This can be diagnosed as articulation disorder, phonological disorder, or childhood apraxia of speech depending on the symptoms. Your clinician will use different approaches based on the type of speech sound disorder to help your child make progress.
Language Disorders
Expressive language disorder or delay is when your child has trouble using language to communicate efficiently. A receptive language disorder or delay is when your child has difficulty understanding spoken language
AAC Device Use
AAC, or Augmentative and Alternative Communication, is any type of communication besides speaking that a person uses to communicate. For some children, this includes speech generating devices, or AAC devices. Your clinician can help teach your child to use their device to communicate. Parent training is a very important component of AAC use!
Feeding Therapy
There are a wide variety of feeding difficulties that a child may present with.bBottle feeding, transitioning to solids, chewing, picky eating and more can be treated by a qualified speech-language pathologist.
Literacy
If your child is struggling to learn to read, a Speech-Language Pathologist is highly and uniquely qualified to provide treatment.
Assessments
Currently, BPST is providing assessments in the areas of speech sound disorders, language disorders, feeding, and literacy. AAC evaluations coming soon!
Individual Speech Therapy
For families wishing to utilize private pay, fees are as follows:
60 minutes: $80
45 minutes: $60
30 minutes: $40
Assessment: $160
For families utilizing private insurance:
I am currently in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois. Families will be required to pay applicable co-pays, deductible payments and co-insurance. Families will be responsible for costs up to the allowable amount if using a BCBS plan. Families will be responsible for costs up to the full billed amount if using another insurance plan. It is family responsibility to check, understand and confirm insurance coverage and limitations.
